Awaiting A New Arrival

It's been a busy few months in this household. The husband and I are excited to say we are awaiting the arrival of our baby boy in a few weeks. This ultrasound was completed at 29 weeks.
Let's see what's been happening in this household in the past few months. The husband and I went to DC for President's day weekend (our last vacation before becoming parents). Then somewhere along the line - we decided to go ahead and renovate the rest of our house! Talk about nesting! This was a major project with little planning! Imagine being 7 to 8 months pregnant tackling such a project! I must have been crazy! Luckily - we are almost done. The last of the contractor (stair guys) are supposed to be done by the end of this week.

As for cooking and baking - no time to do that. I am still trying to wrap up the decorating for our baby's room!

Ah...parenthood...such an exciting time!

Day 109 - New Ceiling Lights

Yah! We finally got new ceiling lights. ECA and the husband (mostly ECA) have been working on our tray ceiling for most of October and they finished! One item to cross off on my "things to do" list. :D
It's amazing because the year is almost over. As I sit here and ponder on my accomplishments for this year, I'll have to admit, I am racing against time and time is winning this year. There are a number of items I want to accomplish before the year ends but with only about 7 weekends left before the year ends, I am not sure if I'll have everything completed. Oh well....we will see.

Missed Bargain!

I am so upset with myself! We stopped by a furniture liquidator store today in Alhambra and I saw a mailbox. I have been looking at mailboxes for several years now but I have not wanted to spend the money for a mailbox. Anywhere from $ 100 to $ 500.

Anyway, the mailbox was priced at $ 88 and I was going back and forth on whether to buy it as I wasn't sure about the design. Well, we decided to buy the mailbox, paid for it and attempted to pick up the mailbox at the pick-up station. And...I saw the associate carrying out MY mailbox into someone else's car. Apparently the guy also bought the same mailbox. Then it was my turn and they told me the mailbox was sold out unless I wanted the one on display! I did not want the display! :( We went to get our money back. Now I am so sad and wished that I'd taken action quicker. My mailbox went home with this old man.....

To top it off - I went online to, once again, search for a mailbox. I haven't found anything that is quite close to that mailbox for the price of $ 100! I did, however, found the same mailbox at LampsPlus for $ 300!! Now I really want to cry! This is when I dislike myself for being so particular...had I not question the design...I could have been the one with that last box...

2009 Home Renovation Ideas

The home renovation ideas or goals for 2009 include:

  1. Putting in French doors between our dining room and living room. I would like someday to keep the entertainment in our living and dining rooms. I also want to create a side patio where we can step out through the French doors. Again I envision having BBQ's where our guests can hang out in the living room chatting or dine in our dining room or step out through the French doors to our backyard "oasis."

  2. Replace the doors to our main entrance. I am thinking maybe Mahogany wood.

  3. See picture below. I want to paint the two bookcases white and install doors for the bottom of the bookcases. Currently, the bottom of the bookcases can be open by pulling the top part up. I do not place anything in the bottom of the bookcases because it is such a pain. I would have to remove all the items on that bottom shelf in order to get to the compartment. I think that we will have to strip the laquer that is currently on the bookshelves and then paint. I also want to move the TV above the chimney. The husband and I have wanted to move the TV forever but have never progressed. It has always been just talk. Moving the TV will definitely free up that space!
