Extra Weight....

Argh....I need to lose weight. While visiting my parents today, my mom was inclined to add that it looked like I have put on a few pounds. Sighed.....somehow after I hit the 30's....my metabolism has stood still.

Mrs. Metabolism...where are you? And how do I get you to come back??

The three days at the gym apparently is not enough for me. I will have to add 30 minutes of cardio to the days I go to yoga. And now...I really need to re-evaluate what I eat. I hate the word re-evaluate....

Day 94 - My Jogging Companion

I admit...I've been bad. I have not jogged for awhile. I've gone to the gym on and off. I've jogged a few times since the half marathon but it has not been consistent. However, when I do jog, the husband is my jogging buddy but I also have a jogging companion called the iPod.

Note to self - must charge the iPod. I took the iPod with me on the camping trip and it never got played. Why not? Because I didn't charge it before I left my place. I know...I am lame like that. :S

Day 78 - Gym Anyone?

I imagine migraines to me is what is kryptonite to Superman. Maybe not that bad for me but it sure feels like it sometimes. Defeated with a migraine last night - I went to bed hoping that it would be gone by this morning. Lady luck was not on my side so I drove my sorry butt with the throbbing pain in my head to Walgreens to pick up my medicine at 9:38 a.m. Walgreens did not open until 10 a.m.!!!

So I waited and waited. Then I figured while I waited - I would take a random picture. A random picture of the gym. The gym I have not visited for about two weeks. The gym that I pay a monthly fee. The same gym that I drive by almost everyday and I still manage to avoid. Yup...that's the gym.

Houston, We Have a Problem

And that problem is.....my shorts from two years ago are fitting snugly around my waist. What does that mean?? 1) I cannot eat if I plan to wear those shorts next week. 2) Buy new shorts. 3) I have gained "f***ing" weight. Excuse my French...I am not a person who tosses the "F" word around much.

I know I've gotten out of shape but this absolutely stinks.

It's time to add cardio to my regimen. The yoga and bodyworks stuff is not working well for my mid-section. Great for my flexibility but absolutely horrid for elsewhere.

I caved

I caved. I got an ipod Nano today. I never thought I would buy into Apple's iPod technology but I did.
And then I got this. What is it? It's an armband to hold the iPod nano.

Why did I cave? Well, I've been training for the half marathon and I have realized that it is hella boring running with no music. I was at the gym one days several weeks ago running on the treadmill and a song came on. I felt a desire to jog faster as I was listening to the song. So I thought to myself, "I need to get an iPod." So yesterday I was training with Metea and we ran seven miles! So proud of myself! Anyway, Metea and I went to Pasadena for tea time and we did a bit of window shopping. We walked into the Apple store and I was looking at iPod's. Metea told me she has one and if I was going to get one, consider the iPod nano. I thought about it and today the husband and I were at Target and I made the purchase! Yah!!! I can't wait to try it out!

Exercising

I went to the gym today during lunch. Holy molly...I did 45 squats in 15 increments and my legs feel wobbly NOW! I guess squats really work your legs! Then I went to the gym with DH in the evening. I attempted to take a step class but I was sooo disappointed! That class must be Step 2! It was way too fast for me. Each time I tried to catch up with the instructor, she was onto a different step style. Note to self - call next time and ask if the class is good for a beginner. I mean, I've taken step classes before but the pace is usually slow enough to where I can still keep up. So sad.

Exercising

I am finally getting back into the groove of exercising! I guess a couple of extra pounds added in about a year is enough motivation for me! The husband and I have been hitting the gym and trying to hit it regularly. This past week, I have gone to the gym on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday!

Today starts a new week and guess what? The husband and I went to the gym today too! I hope we can keep up the good work. I must try to get my jeans to fit comfortably not snugly.

Of course when you hit the gym, you also have a tendency to eat healthier so it is a plus. This past week we have eaten dinner at home on Monday through Thursday! It's great! I'm psyched about the progress.

So this upcoming week, I am hoping to go to the gym Sunday through Thursday and Saturday. I already have Sunday crossed off. I think I can achieve the goal as long as my co-workers do not ask me to go to lunch with them. I'm afraid then temptation will take over....I also need to come up with the meal plan for the week. Today we are going to dinner with my in-laws so I don't have to cook but what about the following 6 days? Hmm....my friend gave me this fish recipe that I want to try this week.
